Shevaraj, Bhuwan Sunar and Sunder Sunar, were found dead in their rented room at Padum-Zanaskar in Kargil, a police spokesman said, adding that their bodies were shifted to a local health centre for postmortem.
The trio were working with Hari Sunchori, a goldsmith, in the town.
Police has initiated inquiry to ascertain the cause of their death, the spokesman said.
Official sources quoting preliminary investigations said the trio had apparently died of asphyxiation due to smoke inhalation as they used firewood in their room to beat the freezing night temperatures.
