New Shatabdi between Chandigarh, Delhi next month: Bansal

"A new Shatabdi train between Chandigarh and Delhi will start next month," Bansal, the Lok Sabha MP from Chandigarh Union Territory, told reporters here.

The new train will leave Chandigarh railway station at 12 pm and reach New Delhi at 3:30 pm.

The train will start its return journey from New Delhi at 7:15 pm and arrive at Chandigarh at 10:30 pm.

Currently, the first and the second Shatabdi leave for Delhi at 6:50 am and 6:45 pm and depart from Delhi at 7:40 am and 5:15 pm.

Bansal said the demand for starting another inter-city train for the Golden Temple in Amritsar will be considered.

The existing super fast Chandigarh-Amritsar train will be provided a stop at Mohali in Punjab.

Bansal also carried out an inspection of the Chandigarh railway station for the first time after assuming the charge of the Railway ministry.

He along with senior rail officers reviewed upgradation and beautification work of the Chandigarh railway station.

"Long and short term measures are being taken by the Railway ministry to make the Chandigarh railway station a world class one," Bansal said.
