The seventh edition of NFDC Film Bazaar began today with the aim of providing training and networking opportunities to upcoming producers and series of knowledge sessions, drawing filmmakers from across the world.
The four-day event was inaugurated by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari and National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) chairman and filmmaker Ramesh Sippy.
The event has been held every year on the sidelines of the India International Film Festival (IFFI) here.
"The Film Bazaar this year will launch a new programme- Producers' Lab - aimed at providing training and networking opportunities to upcoming producers from across the country and will consist of workshop sessions, case studies and one-on-one meetings spread over three days," the organisers said.
These sessions will be conducted by well-known domestic and international film personalities.
"It's heartening to see growing response and recognition from the fraternity across the globe," Nina Lath Gupta, Managing Director NFDC, told PTI.
"We hope that cinemas of India and the filmmakers get more prominence across international platforms," she added.
For the film bazaar, the Screenwriters' Lab, with its six independent screenwriters, conducted its first phase of mentored workshop at Toronto International Film Festival this year and will conclude with its second phase at Film Bazaar, an NFDC spokesman said.
For the film bazaar, the co-production market is looking at line-up from countries, including Afghanistan, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Poland, Lithuania, and projects by Govind Nihalani's 'A Holy Fire', Shyam Benegal's 'Roads To Freedom', Umesh Kulkarni's 'Highway', Anup Singh's 'A Scorpion's Song' and others.
