The NIA probe into the alleged role of separatists in funding terror activities will reveal the truth about their role in "death and destruction" in the valley, Jammu and Kashmir police chief S P Vaid said today.
He also appealed to politicians to refrain from making statements that could provoke the younger generation from taking up the gun.
"I am of the belief that the people of Kashmir have a right to know as to who is the merchant of their death and destruction. There is bloodshed, schools are being burnt, there is terrorism, so if anyone is indulging in deals on that, he must be brought to book," the DGP said.
He was speaking to reporters at a function in Baramulla to reward and honour jawans and policemen who had contributed in anti-militancy operations in north Kashmir.
Asked whether more arrests were likely to be made by the NIA, Vaid said, "Only time will tell."
On the potential impact in Valley due to the arrests of separatists, including SAS Geelani's son-in-law Shabir Shah, for alleged terror funding, Vaid said the people want peace and rejected the strike called yesterday by the separatists to protest the arrests by the NIA.
Asked about reports of the armed forces tribunal suspending life imprisonment of five Army men in the Machil fake encounter case, Vaid said, "I am not aware of it, I am hearing it from you. We will examine the case and see whatever legal course is there, we will take."
He also said there were more foreign militants in north Kashmir than the local ones. "Around 100 militants are there and most of them in north Kashmir are foreign because of infiltration routes in Kupwara, Baramulla and in Bandipora.
