The Nifty opened higher today at 9,908.15. After touching an intra-day low of 9,894.70, the index headed north to touch a
new high of 9,928.20, before settling at 9,915.95, up 0.30 per cent.
On the sectoral front, barring the Nifty FMCG index, which lost 1.70 per cent, all indices ended in green. The Nifty Realty, IT, and Metal indices led the gainers, advancing 1.48 per cent, 1.12 per cent, and 0.96 per cent, respectively.
A total of 874 scrips declined, 829 advanced, while 81 remained unchanged. Total securities that hit their price bands were 126.
Turnover in the cash segment dropped to Rs 24,497.73 crore from Rs 27,523.48 crore on last Friday.
A total of 15,349.73 lakh shares changed hands in 8,429,170 trades. The market capitalisation of listed firms on the NSE stood at Rs 1,29,32,869 crore.
