Immediately after Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi left the venue of foundation-laying ceremony at Chakla village for the AMU centre, Kumar criticised the Centre saying Rs 136 crore earmarked by the Centre was "a very meagre amount."
The Chief Minister compared the amount to the Rs 1,000 crore his government had provided for setting up an Agriculture University here three months ago.
"I had suggested to the AMU Vice-Chancellor to set up the campus at Kishanganj instead of Katihar, selected by them saying that Kishanganj was backward from the point of view of education," Kumar told reporters.
"Now when elections are around they have come to lay the foundation stone of the new campus and provided some fund following a hue and cry made by us," Kumar said, who had earlier raised objections to not being invited to the foundation-laying ceremony of a new AMU campus here.
