Bihar is the first state to launch the 'school safety awareness fortnight' programme, he said inaugurating school safety awareness fortnight attended by thousands of students at Gandhi Maidan.
"There is need to make students aware of management of natural disasters in schools as well as at their houses for which adequate training must be imparted to them in their schools itself," he said.
With Bihar being perennially afflicted by floods and droughts as well as being located in the seismic zone, it was imperative that all citizens should be aware about natural disasters and learn how to react at the time of calamities, the chief minister said.
Kumar said it has been decided that the awareness programme would be launched among two crore students of government and public schools at the block, district and state levels for which 1.15 lakh teachers have been trained as master trainers.
