He rejected suggestions that there is any anti-India sentiments in his country and said that India has been supporting Nepal in every possible manner with which it shares an open border.
"I am grateful to India that they have been helping us in every possible manner. India is supporting Nepal. The Indian Prime Minister assured us of all logistical support for the upcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) elections," said Deuba.
Deuba, accompanied by his wife Arju Deuba and Nepali Congress leader Bimalenda Nidhi, are on a six-day visit to India during which they have been meeting top Indian leadership to discuss bilateral ties between the two countries.
Asked whether there was any discussion over the possibility of joint operation against Maoists, Deuba said, "India is quite capable to deal with Maoists. No such discussion took place."
"We will also be inviting independent observers from India, UN and other countries for the CA polls," he said.
Asked whether China is backing Maoists operating in India and Nepal, Deuba said, "As far as I know, the Chinese have abandoned Mao Tse Tung long back. You go to Tiananmen Square, nobody talks about Maoism anymore.... I feel that even China wants stability in Nepal.
