The party indirectly attacked Verma saying, the central minister must know that Mulayam Singh Yadav is not supporting UPA government "due to any compulsion", but his ideological commitment and faith in secularism is behind it.
SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary alleged here that some central leaders were trying to score brownie points for themselves from the party high command.
"To gain numbers in the eyes of the party high command a few Congress leaders continue to give baseless statements. They have no control over their language," Chaudhary alleged.
"Congress must control its unbridled leaders. Such outspoken leaders are conspiring to bitter the relationship and strengthen communal forces," he alleged.
The spokesman said that if BJP failed to get power at the Centre the credit goes to Mulayam Singh Yadav and the SP.
In the backdrop of threat by TMC to bring no-confidence motion against UPA government in the Winter Session of Parliament, Beni had yesterday said that SP and BSP will continue supporting the UPA government.
"Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati will continue to support the UPA...You know this and I also know this. In fact you know more than me," Beni had said in reply to a question to reporters.
"Mulayam will not withdraw support from the UPA," Beni asserted, when asked whether the SP supremo would not at all withdraw support.
