'No IB breach, plan masterminded in Rajouri in Sept 26 attack'

The BSF ruled out any breach of the International Border by the three militants of a suicide squad, that killed 12 persons in twin attacks on September 26, and said the act was staged and guided from Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.
"There was no breach of the IB or fencing by militants involved in the twin attacks on September 26... The DG (BSF) has come to know that they have not crossed the IB but came here from Rajouri," DIG BSF, Virender Singh told reporters during a media trip to the forward border areas along the IB, yesterday.

"They were launched from Rajouri. There they were staying with some Gujjars and engineered the attack... The person who masterminded the attacks was also from Rajouri... His code name was H34... However, he has not been tracked down," he said.
"The DG (BSF) has given a bold statement in this regard... He must have definite clues," he added.
Twelve persons, including a Lieutenant Colonel, died in the two militant attacks on the Hiranagar Police Station and an Army camp in Kathua and Samba districts of Jammu and Kashmir on September 26.
The BSF was blamed for lax security along the IB in Harya Chak resulting in the infiltration of the three militants of the suicide squad.

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde ordered a probe into the attack and a committee, under Special DG (BSF), was formed to look into it.

"We (BSF) never ruled out the possibility of infiltration along the IB... But there should be telltale signs of crossing. It was only after the investigations the truth surfaced," Singh added.
"During our investigations we visited all the places, checked everything thoroughly and found fences along the IB were intact," he reasoned.
In fact, the on-fence gaps such as the nallahs (40m-wide) were impossible for anybody to cross, Singh said, adding that, besides six BSF men there were thermal imagers and huge barbed -wire-bundles along the border to check infiltration.

"There are well-lit fencing, bared-wire fencing, flood-lighting backed by sound and other devices, thermal imagers, IR equipments installed along along with manual patrolling in 19 senstive gaps to make infiltration impossible," he said.
