Saying that not a single inch of land acquired from the farmers would be used for setting up private industries, Union Rural Development Minister Birender Singh today hit out at the Opposition for "misleading" people on the issue.
Addressing a gathering after unveiling the statue of martyr Bhagat Singh at Badesara village in Bhiwani, he said "the land would only be acquired for establishing public usage enterprises and not a single inch of farmers' land would be used for private industries."
"The bill has been prepared keeping in view the interest of farmers," he said.
The Union Minister, on the occasion, also said that his ministry has prepared a new scheme under which Gram Sachivalayas would be set on a cluster of 300 villages in the country.
He also announced to set up a Gram Sachivalaya at the village and added that sale-purchase centres, banking facilities and government offices of electricity, revenue, education, panchayat, public health engineering and health departments would be set up there.
A community centre and library would also be established in close proximity of these Sachivalayas, Singh said.
About 2,000 to 2,500 adjoining villages would be benefited with this scheme, the minister said.
The Centre also aims at providing skill development training to about 20 crore youth of the country so as to ensure employment opportunities to them.
Unemployment would be eradicated by way of skill development as well as economic empowerment of poor, an official release quoting Singh said.
Stressing that in present time a family could not depend only on agriculture for livelihood, Singh said, there is a need to impart training to youth in other trades so that they could become employable and the new skill development scheme has been prepared with similar objective.
Meanwhile, he also said that new water purification equipment would be installed at village waterworks so that people could get potable water. A pond would also be constructed for purification of contaminated water and the same could be utilised for livestock.
He also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh to Youth Club for pavement of streets.
