No rain in sight, Delhi braves sultry weather

Humidity and hot weather conditions continue to be a cause of discomfort for Delhi residents with no rain in sight till next week and temperatures rising to several degrees above normal for this time of the year.
At the Safdarjung observatory, temperature recorded at 10.30 AM was 38.6 degrees Celsius and weatherman has predicted the maximum to be around 42 degrees Celsius today.
The minimum temperature is expected to be around 30 degrees Celsius. Mainly clear sky in the morning and partly cloudy sky afternoon onwards is predicted, a Met official said.
Humidity level recorded at 8.30 this morning was 53 per cent and it is expected to oscillate between 32 and 74 per cent, the official said.

According to the Met department, monsoon is likely to hit the city on July 14.
Yesterday was the hottest day of July in last two years in the national capital with mercury soaring to a high of 41.3 degree Celsius and the minimum temperature settled at 30 degree Celsius. At Palam observatory, the maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 43.5 degree Celsius.
The month of July usually witnesses monsoon and the current upward trend in temperature is mainly due to elusive rains, the official said.
