There was no respite from the biting cold in the high-attitude tribal areas and several places in the higher and mid hills of Himachal Pradesh even as the region witnessed a sunny day.
The high-altitude tribal areas reeled under cold wave conditions with the mercury hovering around minus 9 degrees Celsius and minus 13 degrees Celsius.
Keylong, Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of minus 5 degrees Celsius, zero degree Celsius and 0.8 degrees Celsius, while Bhuntar, Sundernagar and Solan shivered at 2.5 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees Celsius and 4.3 degrees Celsius, the MeT department said.
Thick fog engulfed the towns along river banks and reservoirs in the morning hours, hampering vehicular traffic.
Day temperatures dropped marginally and Una was hottest in the region with a high of 25.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 22.8 degrees Celsius, Solan 22.2 degrees Celsius, Bhuntar 22 degrees Celsius, Nahan 20.2 degrees Celsius and Palampur 19.2 degrees Celsius.
The weatherman has predicted dry weather in the region till December 3 with no significant change in temperatures.
