No respite from cold wave in HP

The intense cold wave sweeping the hills and valleys of Himachal Pradesh continued without any respite even as the region had a clear day and the maximum temperatures increased marginally.
The high altitude tribal areas and mountain passes reeled under freezing cold wave conditions as minimum temperatures stayed between minus 8 and minus 14 degrees Celsius.
While Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti recorded a low of minus 3.1 degrees Celsius and Kalpa in Kinnaur district and Bhuntar shivered at 1.4 degrees Celsius.
Sundernagar and key tourist destination of Manali recorded a low of 1.8 degrees Celsius and 2.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Solan 3.5, Una 5.0, Palampur 6.4, Nahan 8.1, Dharamsala 8.8 and Shimla 10.5 degrees Celsius.

The day temperatures rose marginally and Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature at 26.6 degrees Celsius while Solan, Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a high of 24, 22.7, and 20.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Shimla 19.3, Manali 17.6, Dharamsala and Nahan 17.4 degree, Kalpa 14.4 degrees Celsius,
Bhuntar and Kalpa recorded the minimum temeprature of 1.4 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 1.8 degrees Celsius, Manali 2.2, Solan 3.5, Una 5.0, Palampur 6.4, Nahan 8.1, Dharamsala 8.8 and Shimla 10.5 degrees Celsius, three to five degree above normal.
The local Met office has predicted dry weather in the region over next six days upto January 3, 2017.
