: The Madras High Court has directed that the movable and immovable properties of the Nagore Dargah at Nagapattinam district will not be transferred to third parties until further orders.
Justice M M Sundresh gave the direction recently after recording the submission of the Additional Government pleader that no properties would be transferred and said there shall be an interim direction to this effect.
Petitioner Syed Mohamed Kalifa Sahib, elected president of the Advisory Board of Nagore Dargah in 2013, had moved the court, demanding details of the properties of Dargah.
He submitted that he had approached the local court in December 2014 as no information was furnished by the managing trustees of the Dargah, which has huge properties all over the district, and said the matter was pending.
The petitioner said he had approached the Tamil Nadu Wakf Board which on January 27, 2015 furnished details of the properties of Dargah.
Alleging that the properties were unlawfully transferred to third parties, the petitioner filed the present petition for a direction to the Nagapattinam District Judge to conduct an enquiry in respect of the movable and immovable properties of the Dargah, take an inventory of it and consequently direct the authorities concerned to render all assistance to the judge.
