The composer says even though actors at times croon a track, he believes they don't have any intention to take up singing as their profession.
"There is nothing wrong with actors singing as they anyway don't sing regularly. Their profession is acting and they very well know that. They (actors) don't intend to make it (singing) a profession," Malik told PTI.
"I like when I hear Amitabh Bachchan sir's voice. I don't understand why there is a debate on it," he says.
"I don't want to talk about any one person. If an actor performs he or she is doing it for fun and entertainment. So, it is okay. They are going to be actors, they are not professional singers.
"I am a composer and I will be that. But tomorrow if I get an offer to act, I might do it if I like it."
With the advent of Armaan, Arijit Singh, Neha Kakkar, Kanika Kapoor, Jonita Gandhi, singers like Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu are not singing much now.
"It can be stifled for a little time due to the new talent coming in. My daughter is climbing up, she has got less chances but she is trying to prove herself."
The composer says singers should not use technology.
"In terms of filmmaking there is no harm in using technology but one should not depend on it completely. But when it comes to singers, I feel they should sing from their heart, it should not be mechanical."
To be aired on &TV channel from August 21, the show will also have comedian Bharti Singh as a co-judge.
