Justice V P Vaish was informed through the counsel of the law-making body that since the reply was filed in pursuance to the notice, "we have no grievance against the Delhi police Commissioner and other officials."
"The notice only demanded reply from the Commissioner of Police (Delhi). Once he filed the response, which was very much satisfactory, we have dropped the proceedings on June 4, 2015," Delhi government's standing counsel Naushad Ahmad Khan, appearing for Delhi Vidhan Sabha, said.
The court on May 5 had sought response of Delhi Assembly, its Privileges Committee and Jarnail Singh on a plea filed by the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West District) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Tilak Nagar who were recipients of show cause notices on the MLA's complaint. It had stayed the notice till today.
Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain, appearing for the Delhi police Commissioner, however, said that even though the notice was quashed, the same was illegal and misconceived.
To this, ASG Jain, had contended that the allegations by Singh did not constitute breach of privilege as such statements were allegedly made by the police commissioner after an FIR was registered against the MLA and added that the investigation was ongoing.
