According to Pravin Patel, national convenor of Yatra which arrived in the city last night, "there is urgent need to accelerate the rate of disposal of cases in courts across the country.
The total number of cases pending across the country is estimated at around three crore and we can expect no improvement unless speedy disposal, which would also result in timely justice for litigants, was ensured".
"After traversing through thousands of kilometres in 35 days, the Yatra will commence at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on March 04", Patel said.
Noted jurist Justice D P S Chauhan, a former judge of the Allahabad High Court and the Madhya Pradesh High Court, received the Yatra in the city.
Justice Chauhan stressed on the importance of "judges' accountability" and "preserving the faith of the common man in the judiciary".
