A Steering Committee of the Delhi government today held a meeting regarding the implementation of the odd-even number formula for the plying of private vehicles in the national capital planned to be rolled out from January 1 next year.
The Committee has prepared a detailed report on the implementation of the formula.
The Arvind Kejriwal government will prepare a detailed policy in this regard and table the same in a Cabinet meeting soon.
The Chief Minister has called a review meeting tomorrow with ministers and officials concerned wherein the detailed plan will be put before him.
"In today's meeting, several issues, including cleaning of roads, movement of odd-even (numbered) vehicles, rampant use of generators, introduction of more buses and frequency of metro trains, were discussed. A plan has been prepared that will be put before the Chief Minister tomorrow," sources said.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Home Minister Satyender Jain said that both the odd and even-numbered cars will be allowed to ply on Sundays, adding that it is the "responsibility" of the Delhi Police to implement the formula to curb air pollution in the national capital.
Jain, who is also the Health and PWD Minister, said the government is holding a series of meetings to come up with a strategy in this regard and the DMRC will also be asked to increase its working hours to accommodate a huge crowd of passengers.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had on December 5 said that the government would discontinue the move after 10 to 15 days if people faced problems.
On December 4, the AAP government had come out with a plan of restricting private vehicles bearing odd and even registration numbers to alternate days from January 1 in the national capital.
