Police had registered a case against Mohammed Yasin for allegedly threatening and snatching Rs 500 from a petrol station cashier, after refuelling his motorcycle on June one and was absconding after that.
He was arrested after he waylaid a person and robbed him of his cell phone on June four at Kuniyamuthur in the city and lodged in the Central Jail, police said.
In view of his previous record of threatening people of dire consequences, waylaying and snatching money and valuables, City Police Commissioner A K Vishwanathan ordered his detention under Goondas Act, which was served on him at the jail, they said.
