A junior officer of the Madhya Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Department was caught red-handed today by the Lokayukta police here, while he allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 18,000 from a person at his residence, an official said.
The accused Narendra Singh had allegedly demanded a bribe from the Sewa Co-operative Society at Agrolighat to release its quota of ration and kerosene under the Public Distribution System (PDS), Lokayukta Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajesh Kumar Sharma said.
"Based on a complaint by Sewa Co-operative Society General Manager Lakhan Singh, we laid a trap and caught Narendra accepting the bribe at his residence at the Housing Board Colony in the Ater area," he said.
The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigations are on, the DSP said.
