Omar for joint efforts to universalise education in J&K

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today stressed on the need to unite efforts with the civil society to realise the objective of universalisation of elementary and higher education in the state.
Omar, while taking stock of the functioning of 'Noor Society', the governing body for implementation educational schemes in the state, asked it to address the development of education in a comprehensive and holistic manner.
The Chief Minister said improvement in quality and introduction of moral education as a part of curriculum is imperative to produce high quality human resource to lead the state and the country in future.
The upgradation of school infrastructure under RMSA, implementation of Model School scheme, Girls Hostel scheme, initiative for SC and ST girls, Vocational Education and ICT being monitored by the Noor Society are aimed at imparting quality education, he said, adding that placing of required faculty ensured delivery of the services.

Omar asked the Education Department to work out strategies with stakeholders to make the schemes successful.
He said completion of infrastructure development works and other aspects targeted under these schemes should be made time-bound to avoid financial and other complications.
The Chief Minister was briefed on various issues including strengthening of existing high schools, drinking water and separate toilet facilities for boys and girls, annual school grants, quality interventions, school mapping exercise, and service regulations and financial norms.
The Commissioner Secretary Education, Hirdesh Kumar briefed him on the achievements under RMSA and other schemes besides giving an overview of the steps underway to help people get the best out of these schemes.
