Assam Additional Director General of Police A P Rout told reporters here that armed miscreants opened fire at a village near Dhubri town, killing the man who was passing by at the time.
Security has been beefed up in the area after the incident.
Dhubri was rocked by violence along with Bodoland Territorial Areas districts in July-August when about 100 people were killed and over four lakh others displaced.
