One Maoist killed in Vizag

A Maoist was killed in an exchange of fire between the ultras and security forces in Gorapakala village of the district today, police said.
The skirmish took place this morning when special police teams were on a search operation based on tip off about the presence of Maoists belonging to banned outfit CPI (Maoist) in Gorapakala village in Munchingputtu mandal.
One of the security teams spotted a group of nearly 15 Maoists near Gorapakala village in Munchingputtu mandal, district SP (Rural) Koya Praveen told reporters.
The police asked the rebels to surrender to which they opened firing and in retaliation police also fired in which one Maoist was gunned down while others managed to escape.
Police have recovered 10 kit bags, two 303 rifles and four hand grenades from the spot.
It is yet to be ascertained that to which group the deceased belonged, the officer said.
