The Monster Employment Index (India) stood at 229 in January, up 52 per cent over 2015, when the index clocked at 151.
"The year has started off on an optimistic note with notable growth in the key sectors. Additionally, it is good to see that apart from the traditional sectors like IT and BFSI, we have seen a steady growth in the non-conventional sectors such as Media & Entertainment," Monster.Com (India, Middle East, South East Asia and Hong Kong) MD Sanjay Modi said.
Meanwhile, initiatives like the 'Startup India, Standup India' are likely to encourage a more dynamic approach among entrepreneurs that will also lead to job creation.
"With the Union Budget nearing, we look forward to a more conducive policy framework to revive investment, increase growth with a pragmatic recognition of the macro-economic woes and a thrust towards structural reforms," Modi said.
Sectorwise, recruitment activity exceeded the year-ago level in 25 of the 27 industry sectors monitored by the Index.
The report noted that all 13 occupation groups monitored by the Index continue to chart improved demand year-on-year.
Senior management professionals registered the steepest growth in demand from the year-ago; up 81 per cent. The growth momentum improved 33 percentage points between December 2015 and January 2016.
Moreover, online demand exceeded the year-ago level in all 13 cities monitored by the Index.
Bangalore led all monitored cities year-on-year, followed by Chandigarh.
