Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today said that his opinion on the current law and order situation in the state was his "view as an ordinary citizen".
"Different people hold different opinions on the prevailing law and order condition. What I had said on that count was the view of an ordinary citizen," Naik told reporters here.
The Governor had yesterday in Lucknow said that law and order and electricity shortage were areas of concern.
"Law and order and power scarcity have been two major areas of my concern and sometimes I have also given open expression to it", he had said.
"We need reformative measures to tackle the said pertinent problem and for that corrective measures are inevitable right from the constable level to the top of the establishment," he said.
He, however refrained from repeating his views expressed earlier in state capital.
"Without undisturbed power supply we can't expect development in the right earnest and the same way the infrastructure including very good roads linking rural areas to the cities were the conditions necessary to be fulfilled," Naik said.
He was in the town to address a seminar organised by Rampur Raza Library on the subject "Discussions on historic documents (Maqtootat and Taskare)".
Appreciating the rich treasure trove of manuscripts housed in the historic library, he said, "as Rampur is popular for knives, the libraries should also be treated like knives which can sharpen the minds of researchers, scholars and others interested in improving and enhancing their knowledge to bring change in the society for the betterment of the country as well as the humanity around the world.
