The Odisha Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (OUIDF) today approved nine projects worth Rs 905.19 crore for different Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
Approval to urban infrastructure projects were made at the OUIDF's Board of Trustees Meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary A P Padhi.
Considering the infrastructural needs, social utility and environmental impact of the proposed projects, the Board approved them setting time lines for their completion.
Padhi suggested the department of housing and urban development to mobilise the ULBs to avail and utilise this facility for enhancing their revenue sources.
He also asked to provide incentives to the better performing ULBs for encouraging others to follow the suit.
Stressing on the eco-friendly projects, Padhi told the department to promote infrastructures like laying of road tops with the material produced from plastic waste.
It was also suggested to make appropriate waste treatment and disposal systems in the fish and meat markets, departmental officials said.
Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan advocated for developing a model wet-market project proposal for replication in other ULBs.
The approved projects included the proposal for establishment of two Modern Wet Markets at Unit-IV and Ghatikia in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, setting up 56 numbers of road side vending zones leading to Engineering School in Cuttack Municipal Corporation, construction of market complex at Ganesh Market in Udala NAC, construction of market complex at Patrapada in Sundargarh, development of sewerage system in east and west towns of Rourkela, improvement of water supply to greater Berhampur and augmentation of water supply to Gopalpur NAC.
