The sky remained heavily overcast in Shimla and other parts of the state even as strong winds swept the region, causing marginal drop in maximum temperatures, though there were no rains.
Anearthquake measuring 3.5 on the richter scale rocked Chamba and surrounding areas at 12.35 PMbut no loss of life or property was reported from any part of the region.
The state capital Shimla experienced warmest night of the season, while mercury dropped by two to three degreesto stay at 21.6 degrees at Una, 21.6 degrees at Solan, followed by Nahan 18.2 degrees, Sundernagar 16.5 degrees, Dharamsala 14.8 degrees, Bhuntar 14.0 degrees and Kalpa 6.6 degrees C.
The local MeT office has warned of heavy snowfall or rains at isolated places in mid and higher hills tomorrow and predicted rains or snow at few placesfrom February 6 to 9, with dry weather on February7.
Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) issued a medium danger avalanche warning today for some avalanche-prone slopes of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
