Overseas Congress launches pro-democracy think-tank in US

The US chapter of the Indian National Overseas Congress (INOC) has launched a pro-democracy think-tank with the objective of creating awareness on challenges to democracies in both countries.
The New York-based Indo-US Democracy Foundation will facilitate "constructive dialogue" between communities while promoting democratic values and principles, a media release said.
"The mission of the Indo-US Democracy foundation is to create awareness on threats to democracies in India and US and to educate the public," said senior INOC US leader George Abraham and executive director of the think-tank.
Launched formally on November 14, Abraham said the mission of the foundation fits well within the Nehruvian vision for India and that is to be a strong advocate for individual liberty and human justice to all citizens regardless of colour, caste, creed, religion or gender.
