"Pakistan had always responded to Indian goodwill gestures with contempt and malice," JKNPP chairman, Harsh Dev Singh told reporters here today.
Singh claimed that the intensity of ceasefire violations increased gradually after the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif visited India during the oath taking ceremony of Narendra Modi and his Cabinet.
He said, "it is something similar to the Pakistan's Kargil misadventure which was followed by the historical goodwill visit of Atal Bihari Vajpayee to Lahore in February 1999".
He also said that its de-escalation on Friday was no reason for complacence in view of a highly un-predictable Pakistan and its highly defiant Army which was bent upon destabilising the borders.
He called upon the state government to accelerate the relief measures in view of piquant situation "where more than 15,000 families all along the 192 km IB have been uprooted".
Singh said that affected families were highly critical of the inadequate government response in mitigating their woes and concerns.
