In a relief for Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Supreme Court today suspended an election tribunal verdict which disqualified his confidant and Railway Minister for vote rigging in 2013 general elections.
The apex court summoned all election-related records of Minister Khawja Saad Rafique from the tribunal and adjourned the hearing in the case for four weeks.
In his plea, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader contended that the tribunal's order did not explicitly state that he was involved in rigging the polls.
Rafique told reporters that he had not committed any wrong and hope to get justice from the court.
"We will fight the case on merit and we are certain we will get justice," said Rafique.
