An inter-ministerial committee (IMC) constituted to consider various models, including auction of coal linkages, is yet to submit its report, Parliament was informed today.
"IMC has been constituted... To consider various models, including auctioning of coal linkages/LoAs (Letter of Assurances) through competitive bidding as the selection process and to recommend the optimal structure that would meet the requirements of all the stakeholders," Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
"The IMC has not yet submitted its report," he added.
The 16-member panel, set up in January, has representatives from ministries like Power, Railways, Steel and Legal.
Besides, the panel has a member of NITI Aayog, Chairman and Managing Directors (CMDs) of Coal India Ltd, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd and CMPDIL, among others.
Till now, Standing Linkage Committee has been deciding on allocation of long-term and short-term linkages for sectors such as power and steel.
