Sarna, accompanyied by a member of Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and supporters, was stopped at the entry gate of Trauma Centre here by police.
Police insisted upon permission from doctors for allowing them to meet Khalsa.
Later, talking to media, Sarna said due to some "political compulsion", he was not permitted to meet Khalsa.
Sarna also accused Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal of playing with Sikh sentiments for political benefit.
He said Sikh prisoners would have been released if Badal had taken up this matter with Union government sincerely.
