BJP chief Amit Shah today asked political parties to rise above politics and connect with society, saying it would help them represent social ethos well.

A political party and its different units should harmonise with society and at the same it should also try to involve different organs of the society, Shah said.

"I believe until a political party rise above the politics and connects with society, it cannot represent the ethos of the society," Shah said at the concluding session of the party's youth wing BJYM's 'Khelo India' programme.

He also lauded the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha's (BJYM) initiative. The programme was held across 27 states and 733 districts in the country and reached out to more than one lakh players through it.

Emphasising on the importance of sports, the BJP president said it teaches how to accept defeat and at the same time develops the spirit to win also.

Lauding the selection of games for 'Khelo India' event by the BJYM, Shah said Kabbadi, Wrestling, Kho-Kho are indigenous sports and participating in them will further strengthen the players' association with the mother land.

Asking the BJYM workers to further increase contribution in national-building, Shah said,"Building a new India by 2022, a target given by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, should be the purpose of your life."
