With just over a day left before the counting on February 10, leaders of political parties thanked the volunteers and workers who had for weeks followed a strict regime.
After a historic 67 per cent turnout during polling yesterday and exit poll predictions of a comfortable majority for AAP, party volunteers had the luxury of waking up late and chill around.
Sandeep, an AAP volunteer who was responsible for the door-to-door campaign in Madipur area, said, "I will be keeping a track of my calories now and get back to gym. Our days started early during the campaign days so could not give much time but it's time to unwind now."
Dinesh Kumar from Mundka area said, "I was responsible for mobilising the youth support in my area. We conducted back to back meetings in past one month. Today I am just spending time with friends discussing poll trends casually."
Congress workers also got to breathe easy today. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman Mukesh Sharma said, "I finally got to catch some sleep today. We do not have any meeting scheduled for the day. In the evening, I have to attend two weddings so it's going to be family time."
Shirish Chauhan, a volunteers from Uttam Nagar, said, "I went to nearby temple to pray for my party's victory when the results are announced. We had no official work today."
While it was business as usual for top BJP leaders with the party deciding to call a meeting of all the 70 candidates, including Chief Ministerial nominee Kiran Bedi, to review the party's performance and discuss the political situation, party volunteers had their share of rest and enjoyment for the day.
