Punjab Education Minister Daljit Singh Cheema today carried out a comprehensive analysis of the matriculation examination results with teachers of the subjects in which students could not perform well.
He asked the department's officers to act on the suggestions received from the teachers so as to ensure qualitative improvement in the results in the future.
Cheema held the brainstorming session at Punjab School Education Board auditorium with around 500 teachers of six subjects.
He said the intention behind the meeting was not to embarrass or offend any teacher but to analyse the poor results and ensure improvement.
The Minister invited suggestions from the teachers and said if there are lacunae at any level, steps would be taken to sort it out.
He, however, said this year's results have shown improvement in comparison with the previous years'.
Cheema instructed PSEB Chairperson Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal to convene a meeting with subject experts in order to execute the constructive suggestions received regarding syllabi and textbooks from the teachers.
He also sounded a cautionary note and said school heads and DEOs will also liable to be held responsible for showing poor results.
The minister said a programme to provide mid-service training to the teachers showing poor results would be chalked out soon and these teachers would be expert resource persons.
He also said the Annual Confidential Reports (ACR) of the teachers would be directly linked with the annual result by giving maximum weightage to the board result.
