The opposition National Conference (NC) today accused the ruling PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir of trying to break the religious and regional bonding in the state.
"The PDP-BJP government is trying to break the religious and regional bonding in Jammu and Kashmir. We won't allow the divisive agenda to submerge peoples' yearning for peace, togetherness, cohesiveness and single entity of the State", the party's Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said.
Rana cautioned the people against machinations of divisive elements who were hell-bent on to create gap between various segments of the society by exploiting religious and regional sentiments.
"The coalition partners are creating fear psychosis about religion and regional identities," he said while paying tribute to Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah at a function to observe the death anniversary of the party's founder.
He said that there was no threat to any religion in a state that maintained amity during the most testing times under the towering stewardship of Sheikh Abdullah.
"Yes, there is threat to those who were trading religion for their political sustenance," he said, adding that upholding the cherished slogan of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and Buddhist Unity was the biggest and most befitting tribute to Sheikh Abdullah.
