PDP praises Indo-Pak DGMOs meet

Emphasising on maintaining sanctity of the ceasefire, People's Democratic Party (PDP) today said that recently held meeting of DGMOs of India and Pakistan was an appreciable step to establish peace along the border.
"The recently held meeting of Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan was an appreciable step to establish lasting peace on the borders," former Chief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said while addressing a public meeting at Arnia in Jammu today.
The DGMO meet was a follow-up of the meeting which was held between Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in September at New York.

Sayeed stressed on evolving a mechanism to avoid ceasefire violations and hostilities along the border in the future.
"Both the countries have realised that there is no alternative to peace," he said, encouraging statements of Pakistani Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on strengthening Indo-Pak ties.
Terming ceasefire on borders as the most significant step for sustainability of peace, he said that truce should be maintained at any cost for the border people.

"People of Jammu and Kashmir have high stakes in peace because they are the worst sufferers of hostility between the two neighbouring countries," he said.
Sayeed said he was confident that the next government in India would bring back the stalled dialogue process.

"Nawaz Sharif is ardent supporter of improvement of relations with India. I am confident that whosoever will form next government in the country will also take steps to further strengthen relations with Pakistan," he said, and argued that to emerge as economic power, India has to normalise relations with Pakistan.
