The Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) today alleged that a former officer is running a fake federation and obtaining funds in its name and banner from different organisations.
Jimmy R Jagtiani, the Founder of TFI, which is registered under the Registration of Society's Act 1860 with the Registrar of Societies Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, told media here that former IPS officer Harish Kumar had illegally created a spurious Taekwondo Federation and was unlawfully obtaining funds and grant-in-aid from Sporting Organisations/Federations, department of Youth Affairs and Sports and other agencies.
"The authentic and legitimate TFI was founded by me and registered with Registrar of Societies in 1982. A Registration Certificate was accordingly issued to this federation and since then it has been renewed periodically as laid down by the Registrar of Societies.
"The present certificate is valid till 2014. This Federation organises and participates in all Taekwondo events in India and is registered and recognised by the IOA," he said.
When "illegal activities" of Harish Kumar came to light, Jagtiani said that he had moved the civil court, which granted a permanent injunction against the former IPS officer and his illegal federation.
"So far Harish Kumar had collected over Rs 10 crore grant-in-aid from department of Youth Affairs and Sports for his fake federation," he alleged.
Meanwhile, it is reliably learnt that Harish Kumar, who took over the TFI in 1998, is planning to hold an election of his alleged fake federation on December 29 at Gurgaon.
Harish Kumar was not available for comments.
