"The Ganga river is most polluted here either because of sewage or industrial effluents being dumped in it. If the river gets cleaned here it will show effects elsewhere too," the Union Water Resources minister said.
For this, the ministry is planning to take up the operation of water treatment plants here, Bharti said.
"You will be able to see the effect of the clean Ganga campaign by October this year. My ministry is working in this direction," she said.
The Union government had launched 'Namami Gange' aimed at reducing pollution and conserving the river.
On drought situation, she said there is water scarcity in some states and Central Water Commission will file a report in his regard, on the basis of which an advisory would be issued.
She claimed that BJP would win the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections but refused to comment on Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati's recent controversial statements.
