Justice R C Chavan, who heard the petition filed by Bhanwar Mehta, president of Akhil Bhartiya Janasangh, sought replies by August 3.
Petition alleges that voters' list includes names of some dead persons, and also names of a few who live outside the Corporation limits.
The Court today asked the petitioner to amend the petition and make Chief Electoral Officer a respondent.
After Mehta's lawyer Tushar Sonavane carried out the amendment, notices were issued.
Under section 22 of The Representation of People Act, powers to amend voters' list lie with Chief Electoral Officer.
According to Mehta, he had approached the Municipal Commissioner in this regard, but to no avail.
