In his reply to the June 22 notice issued by the court on the petition by city-based financier S Mukanchand Botra, the actor said the petition had been filed only to malign and defame him and extract money from him.
The petitioner had submitted he had in 2012 advanced Rs 65 lakh loan to Kasthoori Raja, the father of the actor's son-in-law Dhanush, as the latter had given a written assurance to him that if he failed to repay the money he borrowed, Rajinikant would repay it.
When the matter came up for hearing on June 22, Justice Ravichandra Babu had issued notice to Rajinikanth and also to Kasthoori Raja seekig their replies.
Stating that if the financier's contention was really true that he had extended the loan, Rajinikanth said he said should have filed a civil suit for recovery.
Besides, he said if at all Kastoori Raja used his name, the financier ought to have informed him (Rajinikanth).
"The financier cannot be heard to say that he advanced loan because my name was used and hold me liable for such loan. I am neither a borrower nor a guarantor. I am not liable in law to pay any money to the financier," Rajinikanth said.
According to the financier, Kasthoori Raja had borrowed Rs 65 lakh towards production of a film and his family expenses and had agreed to return it within six months but failed to do so.
