Phone SIM card used in Mumbai attacks sent for forensic tests

An international mobile phone SIM card that was used to direct the militants who carried out the Mumbai attacks, has been sent to Interpol in Saudi Arabia to establish a link to one the seven men who are on trial in Pakistan for the 2008 terrorist carnage.
A Federal Investigation Agency official told the anti-terrorism court that the SIM card used by accused Jamil Ahmed to give directions to the militants carrying out the attacks in Mumbai, had been sent to Interpol in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for forensic verification.
"We are awaiting the report from Interpol which will be submitted to the court in the next hearing," he was quoted as saying by sources.

The court adjourned the hearing till April 9.
After a delay of three weeks, the Mumbai case was heard in an Islamabad court today.
Citing security concerns, the hearing was not held at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi where it usually takes place.

The hearing was held at the sessions court premises in the absence of the accused.
Lashkar-e-Taiba operations commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, Abdul Wajid, Mazhar Iqbal, Hamad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jameel Riaz, Jamil Ahmed and Anjum have been charged with planning, financing and executing the attacks in India's financial capital that killed 166 people in November, 2008.
The hearing, which is now held on a weekly basis, did not take place last month due to a strike by lawyers following a terror attack on the premises of the local court in Islamabad, besides the usual security concerns.

The judges and lawyers have demanded foolproof security for themselves.
