Jamison Fouss, acting US Consul General in Hyderabad, underscored that the exhibit is about people-to-people ties and demonstrates how Indian and American past and present are linked through our shared histories and experiences, stated a release from US Consulate General, Hyderabad.
'Kindred Nations' exhibit includes unseen images that are a testament to the depth of historical ties between the United States and India.
The exhibit's photographs and documents capture individual experiences of leaders, merchants, immigrants, artists, educators, and students, each narrative offering insights into cross-fertilisation between the US and India, it said.
The exhibit showcases the photos of prominent events like Swami Vivekananda's visit to the US in 1894, US President Herbert Hoover's meeting with Mahatma Gandhi in New Delhi in 1946.
The exhibit also has photos of well-known buildings like the Madras Ice House, and of historical milestones like the India's Representative to the United Nations officially hoisting the Indian national flag at the United Nations in 1947.
On the occasion of India's Independence Day, Jamison Fouss congratulated the people of India, by quoting John Kerry, Secretary of State, statement "As India continues its tryst with destiny into the 21st century, it will find in the United States a willing and able partner in the cause of freedom, democracy, and prosperity."
