government's public interface Press Information Bureau (PIB) has made its debut on Twitter.

The PIB will use the handle 'PIB_India' on the popular micro-blogging site.

PIB will share information and alerts from the government on major developments, Principal Director General, PIB, Neelam Kapoor said.

The PIB's Twitter page today carried information on the resignation of Pranab Mukherjee as Finance Minister, Commerce Minister Anand Sharma's engagements in Brussels, some key initiatives of the Finance Ministry and the visit of the Group of Ministers on Media to Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow.

The Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Passport Division of the MEA are already on Twitter.
