According to the government, the pilot project will be first implemented at Aya Nagar which is a village cum unauthorised colony as it does not have sewer line.
The project - Sanitation Improvement Plan for Aya Nagar - was proposed by Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) which will be implemented by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
The project was given a go-ahead by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at a meeting with the DDC yesterday.
The government said that the results of the pilot project would be analysed to take a considered decision of scaling it up in other localities.
"Delhi lacks efficient sanitation management systems and 50 per cent population of this state has no access to sewer systems. More than 2,200 colonies have no sewer connection and 1,600 colonies have partial sewer system," said Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) vice-chairman Ashish Khetan.
