Police constable among 2 killed in road mishaps in Jammu

Two persons, including a policeman, were killed and as many injured in two separate road mishaps here, police said today.
Constable Anil Kumar and Special Police Officer (SPO) Parveen Kumar posted at police station Gharota went to investigate a road accident case yesterday in the area when they were hit by a tipper while they were crossing the road, a police spokesman said here.
He said that both the cops were shifted to Medical college and Hospital Jammu (GMC) where constable Anil Kumar succumbed to his injuries, while the condition of Parveen Kumar was stated to be stable.
The body of the deceased constable was handed over the relatives after completing all the legal and medical formalities.

In another incident, a 35-year-old woman was killed and a person was injured when the motorcycle she was riding on was hit by a vehicle coming from opposite direction in the Radhey Chowk in the Akhnoor Tehsil, he said.
The couple was shifted to the hospital where the victim, Asha Devi, was declared as brought dead, he said.
Cases have been registered and investigations initiated in both the cases, he said.
