The accused has been identified as Nitin alias Vijay. He had allegedly killed a temple priest on July 7, police said.
The incident took place when the accused stole an Esteem car and was trying to steal stereo of another Santro car parked in NIT area by breaking its glass, they said.
The Santo car's owner then came and tried to nab the accused. However, the accused sped away the car with owner's hand stuck in the car window, they added.
In addition to this case, Nitin is accused of many cases of stealing cars, motorcycles and house thefts in Faridabad. He has admitted to have committed a dozen cases of thefts, informed Sub-inspector Satendra Singh, in-charge Crime Branch DLF in Faridabad.
Many of the vehicles and other materials stolen by Nitin from the shops and houses have been recovered, he said.
A case has been booked at Police Station Kotwali in Faridabad under section IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 379 (theft), Singh added.
