Police today recovered a 14-year-old girl and arrested a youth from her village for allegedly kidnapping her, a day after locals in Kishtwar district held strong protests over the case.
Kishtwar SP Kulbir Singh said that the girl was rescued from the forest area of Kuchan in the afternoon today.
He said that an FIR has been lodged against the accused, a 22-year-old youth identified as Ulfat, and added that the girl will be handed over to her parents after a medical test.
Protests had taken place in Thakraie village yesterday following the kidnapping of the girl on June 10, allegedly for a second time within a span of one month by the same person.
