The case was registered against Sudhakaran, Lok Sabha member from Kannur, last night, police said today.
High drama was witnessed at the Valapattinam police station yesterday when Sudhakaran, his party workers and IUML MLA K M Shaji staged a protest in front of it demanding release of Azhikode block Youth Congress president Ragesh.
He was taken into custody when he went to the station to enquire about the arrest of two of his party colleagues after they allegedly ignored police directive to stop a lorry carrying sand.
During the protest, Sudhakaran and others picked an argument with the police personnel and allegedly threatened an inspector and obstructed their functioning, police said.
